西方中心下的中国形象——基于毛姆《面纱》的分析摘 要在西方的文学作品中,中国形象一一直是神秘东方的代表,因此也是国外作家热衷于探索和书写的素材。从马可波罗时期的“遍地黄金”的富足幻想再到落后的满目疮痍的殖民地形象,近年来中国形象在西方文学中品中的蜕变,也展示了不同意识形态的发展。毛姆作为上世纪最为著名的英国小说家、剧作家之一,曾多次涉及到中国形象的描写。不仅在游记《在中国的屏风上》集中描绘中国的风土人情,更多次在其创作中植入“中国元素”,由此可见毛姆对于中国形象的独特偏爱,也在无形中通过语言概括透露出西方中心下中国形象的本质与变化。本研究基于对毛姆短篇小说《面纱》中中国形象的具体分析,以此为背景展开其在中国形象层面的具体书写。从中剥离出西方中心下的中国形象的碎片化书写、两极分化书写以及集体幻想式书写。揭示其表达方式实际上是中西文化冲突以及西方中心意识形态下的具体表现。关键词:毛姆 《面纱》 西方中心中国形象1The image of China under the western center -- based on the analysis of the veil by MaughamAbstractIn western literary works, Chinese image has always been the representative of the mysterious east, and therefore is also keen to explore and write the material.
