As a bridge, films make it possible for people to know more about foreign cultures and customs. Heroism, as an important part of national culture, is a priceless treasure of human civilization, which exerts a subtle influence on people's cultural life. In a consequence, films about heroism are overwhelmingly popular with the public. With the deepening of cultural exchanges between China and the United States, American films with the theme of heroism have been introduced into the Chinese market in quantity, which arouses a series of in-depth reflection and exploration about the similarities and differences between Chinese and American films from the perspective of heroism. This paper attempts to compare two films, Chinese movie Operation Red Sea and American movie The Avengers, both of which center on heroism under the different background of social cultures.
