AbstractWith the development of communication, transportation, and economic globalization, intercultural communication becomes more and more frequent and international competition become fiercer. Therefore, it is particularly important for Business English major students to strive to improve their professional business knowledge and the skills of cross-cultural communication. Meanwhile, more and more theories on Intercultural Communication Competence have been introduced into China, and Business English teaching in China has begun to put emphasis on the cultivation of students’ ICC, but the results are far from satisfactory. Therefore, this thesis makes an attempt on the content and measures of the cultivation of students’ ICC in the learning of Business English.This paper is a good study of the basic content of ICC, the importance of ICC in Business English learning. It introduces the definitions and characteristics of communication, culture and intercultural communication, discusses the connotations and components of ICC. Based on the discussion on ICC, this paper explores the importance and necessity of ICC, and finally puts forward some strategies on how to cultivate ICC in the learning of business English.
